Sierra Pacific Foundation Scholarship Announcement
The Sierra Pacific Flyfishers Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting education and conservation efforts toward preserving the sport of flyfishing. This organization is actively involved in educating the public on the positive aspects of conservation of our natural resources, a healthy environment, and respect for fresh and salt-water sport fishing.
Our scholarship program is now looking to improve fly casting mechanics among our members. Accordingly, we have re-focused our scholarship program toward training motivated fly fishers to become Certified Casting Instructors under the Fly Fishers International (FFI) program. This program has rigorous content, including a robust instruction manual and a certifying examination, both written and performance-based. The Southwest Council of FFI sponsors a certification class to help those who are committed to this learning journey to pass the exam. It is overseen and organized by our member, Jody Martin. For more information, please contact Jody at casting@swcffi.org.
Because there is a tuition to enter these classes - which occur every other week - SPFF has committed to cover the tuition cost for SPFF members, with 4 scholarships available. If you are interested in pursuing the scholarship, please email president@spff.org to discuss.
